While Vivitar universal remotes aren’t as widely used today, thousands of users still rely on them as a reliable backup or third-party remotes. Known for their compatibility and quality, these remotes are still available in select markets, mostly from older stock, as the brand is now owned by Sakar and no longer focuses heavily on remote production.
These remotes work with many major TV brands, but they do require a specific programming code. If you’ve misplaced the original code booklet, don’t worry. We’ve listed all the Vivitar universal remote codes below to make your setup process quick and hassle-free.

Automatic scan is available with the model remote, but using the proper code is always better because it can save our time and effort in pairing.
Have you tried the auto-scan feature? Hold down the Power and Device buttons (like the TV), then press and hold Play until your TV turns off. It might take a few minutes.
If you need the direct code entry method, keep reading. Note the codes from the above list to keep pairing simple.
How to program the Vivitar universal remote?
- Point the remote at the TV and press the TV button on the remote
- Hold down the Setup button until the LED at the top lights up
- Next, enter the 4-digit code for your TV brand
- The light will flash four times once you’ve entered the correct code.
- If you make an incorrect input, the light will be turned off.
- Next, aim the remote at the TV and press the power button to test.
- Test with all other keys on the remote.
You should follow the same procedures if you want to pair it with other devices, such as DVD players, audio devices, set-top boxes, etc. I tested the pairing with the Vivitar URC-713 and 720 models, and it works fine.
There is a special gift for the reader that I am going to share, the user manual PDF file, so that you can keep it on your phone or get a printed copy of it for future usage.

When I checked the official website, I couldn’t find any upcoming products or existing products under the universal remote category, but I could get some pieces from other online shopping websites like eBay, Etsy, etc.
Did these codes work for you, and were they successfully programmed? If not, let me know in the comments. If not, I’ll help you troubleshoot.
